The Four Wives
Hello, everyone ! I'm very glad to stand here. Let me tell you a little story and I hope you may get inspired.
There was a rich merchant who had four wives. He loved the fourth wife the most and he took great care of her and gave her nothing but the best. He also loved the 3rd wife very much. He is very proud of her and always wants to show her to his friends. He, too, loved his second wife. She is always patient. When the merchant faces some problems she would always help him out. The merchant's first wife has made great contributions and maintaining his wealth and business as well as taking care of the household. However, the merchant didn't love the first wife although she loved him deeply.
One day, the merchant felt ill. Before long, he knew that he was going to die soon. He asked each of his favorite three wives, "I love you, now I'm dying. Will you follow me and keep me company?"
Now guess who is willing to follow him ?
Well, the truth is that none of these three wives is willing to follow him or keep him company. But you know what, at last, a voice called out. "I'll leave with you, I'll follow you wherever
you go."The man looked up and there was his first wife. He was very surprised and said,“I should have taken much better care of you while I could have!”
Actually, we all have 4wives in our lives. The 4th wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lu__uriously making it good, it leaves us when we die. Our 3rd wife is our wealth and possessions. When we die, they all go to others. The 2nd wife is our family and friends. No matter how close they have been for us when we are alive, the further they can stay with us is up to the grave. The 1st wife is in fact our soul, we often neglected it in our pursuit of material, wealth, though it always sends us a pleasure.Guess what, the soul is actually the only thing that follows us wherever we go. So, we can learn from this story that death is the destination of each human being, when we are alive, we crazily pursue
everything, a large fortune, high social status, good friendship or even great power. But we will lose them all when our life ends. Only our soul or our person's spiritual world totally belongs to us and no one can take it. It is the real fortune that can company us forever no matter who we are and who we are going to be. Who was the most well-known figure in China last month? It‘s Ma JiaJue—the college student who murdered 4 of his roommates. Many people attributed his crime to his poverty and deficient education. In my opinion, his crime also has much to do with his classmates‘ indifference.
Indifference is a terrible disease in today‘s colleges and the whole society. It‘s not rare that two students who have studied together for 4 years have never spoken to each other. The ne__t day, she told me that she was crying for not being invited to one of her friend‘s birthday party. She thought she was neglected by others. But my message was really comforting which told her someone still cared about her.
What can we do to prevent the tragedy of Ma JiaJue from happening again? Some people may say ?Let‘s open more psychological courses in schools.‘ and other people may say ?Let‘s donate more money for the poor students.‘ But I‘ll say ―My fellow student, let‘s give more love and care to our roommates, our classmates and every person around us!‖
